What is Recyclable?
Recyclable Items:
- Aluminum cans
- Plastic bottles (milk, water, detergent, shampoo)
- Glass bottles: clear, green, and brown
- Steel and tin cans
- Newspaper
- Uncoated paperboard (cereal boxes, food boxes, snack boxes)
- Uncoated printing and office paper
- Uncoated corrugated cardboard
Non-Recyclable Items:
- Plastic bags
- Ceramics
- Light bulbs
- Soiled paper (pizza boxes, paper plates, and cups)
- Metal and glass cookware
- Food waste
- Napkins, paper towels, paper plates, and plastic utensils
Bulk Services
Frequency: Weekly / Limit of 12 items per week
Acceptable Waste:
- Limit: Twelve (12) items of bulk waste collected on your second collection day each week.
- White Goods: Includes washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers.
- Note: Appliances must have Freon removed and be tagged by a licensed contractor prior to placing them on the curb for collection, per Federal law.
- Small Furniture & Mattresses
- Brush: Tied in bundles.
- Bagged Green Waste
Unacceptable Waste:
- Hazardous or Special Waste: Any waste classified as hazardous or that may violate or endanger any person, party, permit, condition, legal or regulatory requirement, or facilities, or present a danger to the health or safety of the public or employees.
- Examples Include:
- Construction and demolition debris (whether by a third party or homeowner) must be removed by the responsible party.
- Hazardous waste.
- Medical waste.
- Rocks, dirt, concrete, dimensional lumber, tree limbs larger than 4 inches in diameter and 49 inches in length.
What do the colors of my carts mean?
- The Grey cart with Green Lid is your TRASH cart.
- The Grey cart with Yellow Lid is your Recycle cart.
Does my TRASH need to be bagged?
- To prevent any future problems, we ask that you bag any waste being placed in the gray and green Frontier Trash cart. This helps minimize loose trash/debris on the street during service, reduces odors, and decreases the need to wash carts frequently.
Does my RECYCLE need to be bagged?
- NO BAGS ALLOWED! All accepted recycling can be placed loosely in the provided Frontier Recycle cart.
- Place your cart facing the street with the wheels/handle towards the house.
- Do not place it under any low-hanging wires or power lines.
- Carts should be 4 feet from mailboxes, cars, or other carts.
Can I still use the small recycling bin (18-gallon bin)?
- The 18-gallon bin can be used for recycling. Please place it out at the curb by 7:00 am on your service day.
When will the new service start?
- Frontier Waste will begin service for residents on Tuesday, October 1st.
Do I have to have a cart for trash collection?
- Frontier Waste will provide service using bags designed for household waste. You are allowed to put out seven (7) bags each service day.
Will I have to pay for the new cart?
- There is a monthly fee for each cart you request. Both carts will be serviced once per week.
- If one cart is not sufficient, an additional cart may be requested for an additional monthly fee through the City of Tomball at 281-290-1450.
What if I have more trash than can fit into the cart?
- If your new 95-gallon cart doesn’t meet your family’s needs, you can contact the City of Tomball at 281-290-1450 to request an additional cart for a monthly fee.
Is my service day changing?
- Check out the detailed service map via the “Trash and Recycling Collection Days” tab. Residents can also check for updated service maps via the City’s website (by entering your address) or the Frontier Waste App.
What will happen if my service falls on a holiday?
- Frontier will observe two holidays – Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If your service day falls on one of these two holidays, service will be provided on your next scheduled service day.
How should the carts be set out on my service days?
- Carts should be placed with the lid opening facing the street and the wheels closest to the curb. Each cart should be a minimum of 4 feet from any objects, including mailboxes, fire hydrants, cars, other carts, etc.
