Since June 30, 2025, Frontier Waste Solutions has handled the City of Schertz’s solid waste service, roll-offs included, according to the City’s FAQ. The franchise reaches businesses too: the City says Frontier holds exclusive rights to serve commercial customers for solid waste. Anywhere in the city, our 20-, 30- and 40-yard containers handle kitchen guts, roof replacements, move-outs and building sites, and businesses set up bin service with the same call: (210) 807-8555.

How a Frontier drop works
- 1
Tell us the job
What’s going in the container, and where it has to sit.
- 2
Get the right size
Heavy debris like shingles and concrete goes in a smaller box. Bulky junk goes in a bigger one.
- 3
We set it down
On firm, level ground with a clear approach for the truck.
- 4
Call when it’s full
We haul it away and handle the disposal.

No more spring and fall clean-ups
Schertz residents used to get spring and fall clean-ups, 16 days of them with a temporary collection point at 125 Pecan Drive, as the City’s April 2025 franchise presentation describes the old service. Those annual clean-ups are no longer offered, the City’s FAQ now says. Instead, the City’s schedule puts brush and bulk items at the curb every other week on your regular service day, with no appointment needed. Set-outs top out at 3 cubic yards under the City’s rules, and limbs must be tied with string or twine in bundles no longer than 4 feet or thicker than 4 inches. Appliances that hold freon need a certified technician’s tag first.
Remodel leftovers are a separate category. Frontier’s Schertz collection guidelines exclude construction and demolition debris, rocks, dirt, concrete and tires from bulk pickup, so a bathroom gut or a patio teardown goes in a roll-off. Pickup calendars, route maps and the accepted-items lists are in Frontier’s Schertz pickup guide.
Over the City's 3-cubic-yard limit?
Not all of Schertz is in Guadalupe County
Parts of Schertz sit in Bexar and Comal counties. Of the 45,978 people the Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates place in Schertz on July 1, 2025, 37,479 lived on the Guadalupe County side, 6,574 in Bexar County and 1,925 in Comal County. The City’s Comprehensive Plan, posted in March 2024, places the JBSA-Randolph airfield, about 2,900 acres, west of the city limits.
Whatever county your address falls in, the City’s contract is the same one, and so is the number to call. Frontier also runs trash service for Selma and Universal City, and Universal City’s trash and recycling schedule is posted on our site.

Cibolo Creek closures and a flooded I-35
Heavy rain has closed Schertz roads along Cibolo Creek. Flash flooding on September 29, 2021 shut FM 1518 at Oak Street and Lower Seguin Road at Weir Road, according to NOAA’s storm records, and the agency’s June 12, 2025 entry cites a broadcast photo of cars submerged on the main lanes of southbound I-35 at FM 3009. Wind has done damage too: in NOAA’s January 10, 2020 entry, gusts estimated at 70 mph damaged fences and carports near Samuel Clemens High School.
A flooded room and a wind-wrecked carport need different containers. Our 30-yard is the home-renovation size, right for clearing out rooms after a flood, while broken fencing and carport panels fit the 40-yard, the one we recommend for storm debris.
Schertz dumpster rental questions
Can my business use a different hauler in Schertz?
For trash, no. Frontier has exclusive rights to serve commercial customers for solid waste, the City's FAQ says, though a business may pick a different recycling provider, and Section 34-53 of the City code requires that recycling hauler to hold a City permit. The City tells businesses to call Frontier directly at (210) 807-8555 to set up commercial service.
Can a recycling company haul debris from my job site?
Yes, but only the recyclables, and only once they've been separated on site. Section 34-53(f) of the Schertz code allows construction and demolition debris to be diverted as recyclable only after it's separated from solid waste at the project site, and it prohibits mixing the two. A recycling hauler that ends up carrying unsorted solid waste can have its permit revoked. Mixed job-site debris goes in a roll-off from Frontier.
How do I get rid of paint and old batteries in Schertz?
Book a pickup at home. According to the City's solid waste page, household hazardous waste pickups are available once a month by request, and Frontier's Schertz guidelines list dried paint products, pool products, auto and marine batteries, and propane and helium tanks among the items that pickup accepts. Those items can't ride in a roll-off; check everything on our no-haul list before you load one.
