The City of Katy sits where Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties meet, and the Census Bureau counts city residents in all three. South of I-10, outside the city line, are unincorporated communities such as Cinco Ranch. We work both sides of that line, with 20, 30 and 40-yard roll-offs for remodels, roofs, cleanouts and new construction, and 2 to 8-yard bins for businesses that want a regular pickup.

How a Frontier drop works

  1. 1

    Tell us the job

What’s going in the container, and where it has to sit.

  2. 2

    Get the right size

Heavy debris like shingles and concrete goes in a smaller box. Bulky junk goes in a bigger one.

  3. 3

    We set it down

On firm, level ground with a clear approach for the truck.

  4. 4

    Call when it’s full

We haul it away and handle the disposal.

Three bulky items a week, six yards a quarter

Inside city limits, Katy’s curbside service has firm edges, and the City’s garbage and recycling guidelines spell them out:

Weekly heavy trash: up to three bulky items, such as furniture or an appliance, set out beside the cart.

Weekly yard debris: up to 15 bags of 35 pounds or less, plus branches under 2 inches thick, cut to 4-foot lengths and tied in bundles of 40 pounds or less, with a 4-cubic-yard cap per service day. Commercial tree services haul off their own limbs.

Quarterly super heavy trash: bulky items, bags and bundles, up to 6 cubic yards.

Dirt, rocks, bricks, concrete, pallets, tires and construction debris are excluded across the board. Those are 20-yard jobs: that card lists heavy debris, concrete, bricks and roofing. Here’s a side-by-side of the three sizes.

Behind the Addicks and Barker dams

Along I-10 east of Katy, near State Highway 6, the Corps of Engineers’ Addicks and Barker reservoirs sit empty most of the time. The Corps built both in the 1940s and shuts their gates during heavy rain, holding stormwater back to cut flooding along Buffalo Bayou downstream. Harvey tested the system in August 2017. The Harris County Flood Control District says the pools began rising on August 25 and the Corps started releasing water on August 28, and the National Weather Service reports that both reservoirs reached record pool elevations, flooding homes and businesses upstream and downstream.

When the water goes down, carpet and pad, drywall, cabinets and furniture all have to come out at once. Storm debris is printed on the 40-yard’s card, and smaller jobs can use our remodel and tear-out containers.

Floodwater came in and the carpet has to go?

Katy's rules for a business dumpster pad

Inside the city, Section 13.02.008 of Katy’s code sets out where a commercial container goes. It calls for a level, all-weather pad built for 10,000-pound single-wheel loads, inside a solid fence at least 6 feet tall and a foot taller than the tallest container, with a latching gate kept shut except for access and during business hours on collection days. Where the only access is straight off a curb-and-gutter street, the container has to sit at least 15 feet back from the curb, and the code bars trucks from crossing the curb to reach it. New commercial buildings need drawings that show the screening before a building permit is issued.

Growth in Waller County, hail in Cinco Ranch

Katy keeps growing. The Census Bureau counted 14,102 residents in 2010 and 21,894 in 2020, and its estimate for July 1, 2025 is 28,373. In those estimates, the Waller County part of the city grew fastest in percentage terms, from 4,411 at the April 2020 base to 6,475.

NOAA’s storm records show the kind of weather those roofs face. On May 9, 2019, a trained spotter reported tennis-ball-size hail about 4.8 miles south-southeast of Katy, at a point inside the Cinco Ranch census-designated place. On December 28, 2024, a tornado tore roofs off mobile homes near Brookshire, in Waller County, before moving northeast into Harris County; a survey team rated it EF1, with winds estimated up to 100 mph. A shingle tear-off belongs in the 20-yard, and here’s more on sizing a hail-damage re-roof.

Katy dumpster rental questions

Does the City's curbside service in Katy take construction debris?

No. The City's guidelines exclude construction debris, along with bricks, concrete, dirt, rocks and pallets, and weekly heavy trash stops at three bulky items. The quarterly super heavy pickup tops out at 6 cubic yards. Drywall, flooring and cabinets from a remodel need a roll-off.

Does a Katy business have to use the City's garbage service?

No. Under Section 13.02.003 of Katy's code, a business that contracts with a private hauler pays no City garbage fee once the city secretary has a copy of the contract, provided the hauler meets the City's requirements. For a Katy business, our bins range from 2 yards to 8, with service up to six times a week. Call (936) 258-9035.

Do you deliver outside Katy's city limits?

Yes. Cinco Ranch, for one, is a census-designated place rather than part of the city, and we bring roll-offs to addresses there and elsewhere in the Harris, Fort Bend and Waller County parts of the Katy area. For Fort Bend County jobs closer to Sugar Land, see roll-offs near Sugar Land. Call (936) 258-9035 with the address.
