*The price of a dumpster rental in Cypress, TX is based on size, material, time, and distance within the region.

The Handbook of Texas places Cypress on US 290 twenty miles northwest of Houston, where German families settled along Cypress Creek in the 1840s and rice and dairy farming was the main work until suburbs began spreading in the 1950s. There’s no City of Cypress; outside Houston’s limits, Harris County regulates job sites. Remodels, re-roofs and move-outs are roll-off work, in 20, 30 or 40-yard boxes, and local businesses can set up 2 to 8-yard bins.

How a Frontier drop works

  1. 1

    Tell us the job

What’s going in the container, and where it has to sit.

  2. 2

    Get the right size

Heavy debris like shingles and concrete goes in a smaller box. Bulky junk goes in a bigger one.

  3. 3

    We set it down

On firm, level ground with a clear approach for the truck.

  4. 4

    Call when it’s full

We haul it away and handle the disposal.

Little Cypress Creek and the 2016 floods

The Harris County Flood Control District puts Cypress in the Little Cypress Creek watershed and lists it among the communities where homes, businesses and roads flooded in the Tax Day Storm of April 16–17, 2016. Six weeks later, over Memorial Day weekend, parts of north Harris County took 8 to 13 inches of rain on ground that was still saturated, the District says, and some homes and roads flooded again. The creeks carry water from outside the county, too: about 60 square miles of the upper Cypress Creek watershed begins in Waller County, by the District’s count.

During Harvey, on August 26, 2017, NOAA’s storm records note flash flooding in and around Cypress, an EF1 tornado that downed trees and damaged roofs near the Berry Center and the Lone Oak subdivision, and an EF0 near Highway 290 and Barker Cypress Road. After a flood, the flooring, drywall and lower cabinets tend to come out all at once; here’s more on pulling out a flooded first floor.

What county stormwater inspectors look for

Outside city limits, Cypress builders answer to Harris County. On construction sites covered by the County’s stormwater quality regulations, inspectors make periodic unannounced visits and check the same items every time, among them:

  • erosion and sediment controls, and whether they’re still working
  • the site entrance, set up to keep mud from tracking onto the road
  • trash, construction debris and work materials, stored properly and contained at the end of each workday

The responsible party gets a Notice of Inspection, and Harris County’s regulations allow 72 hours to correct a deficiency before a reinspection fee comes into play. A roll-off on the lot gives that debris somewhere to go each evening. Large construction is printed on the 40-yard card, and the specs for all three boxes show what each one holds.

Two tornadoes that started near Tuckerton Road

Wind has found the same corner of Cypress twice. On the evening of the May 16, 2024 derecho, a National Weather Service survey traced an EF1 from Tuckerton and Greenhouse roads southeast through the Highlands subdivision, where numerous homes had roof damage and broken windows; the survey found more damage on the Lone Star College campus and at a CyFair ISD facility. On November 24, 2025, another surveyed EF1 formed just south of Tuckerton Road, west of Towne Lake Parkway, and moved into the Riata Ranch area with winds estimated at up to 105 mph, NOAA’s storm records show, stripping plywood decking from part of one roof. Hail turns up as well: NOAA’s records include 1.5-inch stones reported in southwest Cypress on December 24, 2024. The 20 and 30-yard cards both list roofing, and our page on tear-off containers for wind and hail damage has the details.

Cypress dumpster rental questions

Can storm limbs and broken fence boards share one container?

Yes. Storm debris and large landscaping both appear on the 40-yard card, so limbs, pickets and fence posts can go in together. Cypress has seen that mix before: on June 8, 2023, NOAA's records note downed trees, fences and power lines near US 290 and Barker Cypress Road. Leave out anything on Frontier's fire-risk list, such as e-bike and power-tool batteries, helium or propane cylinders, pool chemicals and wet paint, since those can start truck fires.

Can an HOA or apartment community in Cypress set up service?

Yes. Frontier's Greater Houston team works with homeowner associations, multifamily apartments and property management companies, as our Houston-area trash and recycling page explains. For a clubhouse, a pool area or a leasing office, bins come in 2 through 8 yards, picked up as many as six times weekly, and casters are an option on the three smallest. Call (936) 258-9035.

Do you take jobs between Cypress and Katy?

Yes. Our Houston-area trucks cover northwest Harris County, and addresses closer to I-10 have their own page for dumpster rentals around Katy. Give us the street address at (936) 258-9035, and we'll work out the right box and a safe spot to drop it.
