Sorting a Manor cleanout three ways
Read together, the City’s collection pages sort household waste three ways, and the third is the roll-off’s job:
1. The carts. Trash goes out weekly on your zone’s day and recycling every other week, by the City’s collection schedule, and the City’s guidelines want carts at the curb by 6:30 a.m.
2. Larger items the City accepts. Its guidelines accept appliances and air conditioners certified freon-free (refrigerator doors off), furniture, mattresses, water heaters, cardboard boxes, extra bags of leaves and bundled branches. Manor’s code defines a bundle as brush tied into an easily handled package no longer than three feet and no heavier than 35 pounds.
3. Everything the City turns away. That list includes construction debris, fencing and remodeling debris, carpet, tubs and toilets, tile and sheetrock, and cinder blocks and bricks.

Manor's temporary obstruction permit
Check with the City’s building inspector before a container goes in the street. Under Section 3.08.072 of Manor’s code, anyone who wants to temporarily occupy or obstruct part of a street or right-of-way to hold material or rubbish for or from construction work has to apply to the building inspector for a temporary obstruction permit and pay the required fees, and Section 3.08.032 makes occupying the right-of-way without the required permits unlawful. A driveway or a spot inside the job site keeps the box off the right-of-way. Subdivisions, districts and a second reinvestment zone
Manor had 654 residents when it incorporated in the early 1930s and 1,204 by 2000, according to the Handbook of Texas. The Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates count 23,070 on July 1, 2025, up from 13,674 at the April 2020 estimates base. The City Council’s 2026 ordinances, as Municode lists them, track the building: on April 15 the Council levied assessments in Improvement Area #5 of the Manor Heights public improvement district, on June 17 it approved the final project and finance plan for Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number Two, and on July 15 it updated the assessment plans for the Mustang Valley, Newhaven and Rose Hill districts. The same Municode list shows a January 21 rezoning from agricultural to heavy commercial and the August 5 annexation of 2.54 acres.
New houses and storefronts throw off lumber cut-offs, drywall scraps and packaging. Builders can keep a roll-off on the lot, new businesses can set up bin service, and jobs farther out toward Austin are covered by our roll-off and trash service around Austin.
The April 2024 tornado along US 290
Early on April 28, 2024, a small tornado crossed US 290 near Manor, according to NOAA’s Storm Events Database. The National Weather Service damage survey summarized there found a building under construction damaged near US 290 and Toll Road 130, a billboard blown into a gas station lot near Manor Downs Road, and minor damage to businesses at Lexington Street. North of the highway, in Shadowglen, the tornado damaged fences and shingles, and one house took EF1 roof damage from winds the survey estimated peaked at 110 mph; in Stonewater it stripped shingles and tossed trampolines. NOAA rates the tornado EF1 over a path of 4.82 miles. Five years before, on June 9, 2019, Travis County Emergency Management reported a roof blown off a house near Manor, in a storm whose gusts a trained spotter estimated at 70 knots in Manor, NOAA’s records show.
Torn shingles, fence panels and wet insulation from repairs like those fit the 40-yard, whose card names storm debris among its best uses, and roofers can reserve storm-repair roofing containers for the tear-off.

Can I burn brush inside Manor?
Only with a permit. Section 5.05.002 of Manor's code requires a permit from the City's fire marshal before anyone kindles an open fire on private land or a public street in the city, and Section 5.05.003 keeps a permitted fire at least 50 feet from any structure (15 feet for an approved waste burner), with a competent person attending it and a garden hose or other extinguishing equipment at hand. The fire marshal can also prohibit burning when conditions make it hazardous. Bundled branches are on the City's accepted list; a large clearing fits our 40-yard, listed for large landscaping.
Does a Manor business have to use the City's hauler?
Manor's code leaves that to individual agreements: Section 13.02.162 says commercial and industrial units arrange for the collection and disposal of their own refuse.
