How a Frontier drop works
- 1
Tell us the job
What’s going in the container, and where it has to sit.
- 2
Get the right size
Heavy debris like shingles and concrete goes in a smaller box. Bulky junk goes in a bigger one.
- 3
We set it down
On firm, level ground with a clear approach for the truck.
- 4
Call when it’s full
We haul it away and handle the disposal.

Station Area, Four Corners and the I-35E corridor
Three of the City’s long-range plans point at business districts:
Station Area. In July 2002 the City Council adopted a conceptual master plan for the 144 acres around the planned DART station, the station opened in December 2010, and a revised plan followed on April 3, 2012, the City’s planning pages say.
Four Corners. The City describes this 54-acre district around Valley View Lane and Josey Lane as its historic retail center. The City’s Commercial Façade Revitalization Program, aimed at the Shops at Branch Crossing/Four Corners, helps owners redo walls, windows, walkways, landscaping and signs.
I-35E corridor. The vision study the Council adopted on February 2, 2021, according to the City, calls for a modern urban industrial district with room for mixed-use development.
Façade jobs and tenant finish-outs fit the 30-yard, the size Frontier’s size guide recommends for business remodeling. When a new restaurant moves in, set up restaurant and bar dumpster service before opening day.

What Chapter 66 asks of a business container
Farmers Branch rewrote its solid waste chapter in Ordinance 3705, adopted October 19, 2021. Unless the City or its residential contractor services it, a dumpster, roll-off or compactor at a business, industrial site, apartment complex, nonprofit or school counts as a commercial container, and Section 66-10 sets its rules:
Keep it on the property. A commercial container can’t sit on a public street, alley or right-of-way unless the City authorizes it. Bins on casters may roll to the street on collection day if they don’t block sight lines, returning the same day.
Name, number, weekly service. Each container carries its hauler’s name and phone number and gets emptied at least weekly, and the hauler must speak up when a bin keeps overflowing.
Hours near houses. Under Section 66-10, trucks may collect within 300 feet of a residence only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, or between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Our 2, 3 and 4-yard bins come on casters. For a complex, start with dumpster service for apartment communities.

Teardowns and the Demo/Rebuild Program
Farmers Branch rewards owners who replace an existing house. Through its Demo/Rebuild Program, the City offers a four-year City property tax incentive to an owner who demolishes a single-family home and builds a new one on the same lot. A builder qualifies only when it also owns the property, and demolition can’t start until the City approves the application.
The cleanup rules come from Chapter 66. Section 66-39(d) says neither the City nor its collector will haul rock, building materials or other remodeling and construction waste away from a house unless it’s in a container fit for bulky pickup, which leaves the rest to the builder, owner or occupant. Section 66-10 then gives the owner 30 days after the project wraps up to have any roll-off on the lot removed. Demolition is on our 40-yard card; for a smaller house, check which container fits a teardown before you book.
Storm damage along Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway
Wind and water have both hit Farmers Branch’s main roads. On June 16, 2019, according to NOAA’s Storm Events Database, a brief EF0 tornado with winds estimated at 85 mph tore part of the roof off the Johnson’s Outpost YMCA on Valley View Lane, and the same storm peeled much of the roof off an apartment complex along Villa Creek. NOAA’s records for June 2, 2022 describe thunderstorm winds uprooting older trees and stripping shingles and roof decking from a few homes in the area bounded by Bee Street, Valwood Parkway, Brookhaven College and Valley View Lane. On December 24, 2024, TxDOT reported lanes of I-35E near Valwood Parkway blocked by high water, NOAA notes. A wind-damaged flat roof on an office or warehouse calls for roll-offs sized for a commercial re-roof.

Farmers Branch dumpster rental questions
Can our roll-off sit in the street outside the building?
Only with the City's permission. Section 66-10 of the Farmers Branch code keeps commercial containers, roll-offs included, off public streets, alleys and right-of-way unless the City authorizes the spot, so plan on your parking lot or a paved pad. Measure before you book: Frontier's delivery guidelines set the minimums at 60 feet of runway for the truck and 21 feet from the ground to the nearest wire or limb, and the box sits best on a hard, flat surface.
Can other people throw their trash in our dumpster?
Not legally. Section 66-4 of the city code makes it unlawful for anyone other than the business's owner, operator, occupant, person in control, agent or employee to put trash in or next to a container provided for that business. Gravity bar locks and lid locks, available on all five of our commercial sizes, back that up.
Does Frontier pick up household trash in Farmers Branch?
No. Residential garbage in Farmers Branch goes to the City's contracted collector, and the City's own crews take bulk and brush. What we bring to town is commercial service: bins for businesses, schools and apartment communities, and roll-offs for contractors, builders and company properties.
