*The price of a dumpster rental in Prosper TX is based on size, material, time, and distance within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

The Town of Prosper contracts out household trash and recycling, which puts Frontier’s in-town work on the commercial side: bins on a set schedule for restaurants, retail and offices, and roll-off containers for company property, builders and commercial projects. Past the town line, homes, acreage and new builds on unincorporated Collin or Denton County land can order a 20, a 30 or a 40-yard container from us.

How a Frontier drop works

  1. 1

    Tell us the job

What’s going in the container, and where it has to sit.

  2. 2

    Get the right size

Heavy debris like shingles and concrete goes in a smaller box. Bulky junk goes in a bigger one.

  3. 3

    We set it down

On firm, level ground with a clear approach for the truck.

  4. 4

    Call when it’s full

We haul it away and handle the disposal.

A town on both sides of the Collin–Denton line

Prosper straddles two counties. In the Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 city estimates, published May 14, 2026, the town had an estimated 45,605 residents on July 1, 2025, up from 30,171 in its April 1, 2020 estimates base, with 36,228 of the 2025 total on the Collin County side and 9,377 in Denton County.

On the commercial side, growth like that means build-outs, and build-outs mean drywall offcuts, packaging and crating that have to go somewhere. For a tenant finish-out, the 30-yard’s card names office and renovation work; a ground-up commercial build leans on the 40, carded for large construction. Here’s how the three roll-offs split up a build.

Contractor scrap the bulk route won't touch

Under the Town’s household trash contract, each Prosper household’s weekly bulk allowance has been 4 cubic yards since February 1, 2025, the Town’s trash page says. The Town’s own rules leave three kinds of job-site waste out of that program:

Debris from commercial construction or remodeling. It heads the Town’s list of prohibited bulk items.

Brick and concrete. The Town calls them non-compactible and won’t collect them with bulk trash.

Landscaping and tree-service waste. Yard debris from commercial landscapers or tree crews can’t go to the curb or to the Saturday drop-off at Public Works on West Fifth Street.

That’s the work our roll-offs are built for. Masonry and broken concrete go in the 20-yard, whose card lists concrete and bricks, and a landscaping crew’s brush and limbs suit the 40-yard, carded for large landscaping jobs.

Hail the size of baseballs, twice

Late on April 10, 2011, an amateur radio report in NOAA’s Storm Events Database described hail up to the size of baseballs falling in Prosper for several minutes, significantly damaging homes, windows, cars and trees, and a newspaper report put that night’s winds at up to 80 mph. Baseball-size hail turns up again in NOAA’s records on April 21, 2017, when an amateur radio operator reported it just east of Prosper. Wind does its own damage: on March 14, 2024, a social media report to NOAA described part of a sheet metal roof torn from a building and blown into the road near North Preston Road and Hickory Creek Drive.

A roofing contractor tearing off a hail-damaged commercial roof in town can load the tear-off into the 20-yard, carded for roofing, or the 30, which lists roofing debris; see tear-off containers for a hail-claim roofing crew.

First Street and FM 1385 are getting wider

Road work is on the calendar in and around town. Community Impact reported on May 25, 2026, citing the Town’s capital improvement site, that First Street is being widened from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane divided roadway between the Dallas North Tollway and Coleman Street, with notice to proceed issued May 18 and work running from spring 2026 to fall 2027. Out in Denton County, TxDOT’s plan for FM 1385, presented at a virtual public hearing that opened May 8, 2023, calls for a six-lane divided urban roadway from US 380 to Mustang Road and an interim four-lane road from there to FM 455. Subcontractors on jobs like these can keep a 20-yard on site for broken concrete.

Prosper dumpster rental questions

Can a painting or remodeling contractor put leftover paint and solvents in a Frontier container?

No. Wet paint products, household solvents and commercial chemicals are on our fire-risk list, along with batteries and propane, helium and oxygen tanks; here are the job-site leftovers our trucks can't carry. The Town's hazardous waste pickup won't take them from a business either: its at-your-door program, offered to residents once a year, lists commercially generated hazardous waste and electronics as unacceptable. A contractor's leftovers need a commercial disposal route.

Where would a crew self-haul debris from a Prosper job?

The Town's trash FAQ points to a landfill in the City of Melissa, at 3820 Sam Rayburn Highway (SH 121), which charges a fee, and says Prosper residents may not use the Custer Road transfer station in Plano. For a crew, every load there is a round trip with a trailer; a roll-off on the site keeps the crew working instead of driving.

Do you work on properties just outside Prosper's limits?

Yes. A house, acreage or building lot on unincorporated land in Collin or Denton County can book any of the three roll-off sizes, and job sites there can too. Pick the spot before delivery: firm, level ground for the box, a 60-foot approach for the truck and nothing hanging lower than 21 feet, which matters on a new lot before the driveway goes in. Here's what happens between delivery and pickup.
